Welcome
Inna Morris came from the family of diverse music traditions. Her early taste was formed by her parents, who spent their youth among composers, poets and artists whose creations later became world famous. Her father, a lyricist and song writer, composed and co-authored many popular hits.
A classically trained violinist, and self-trained guitar player, Inna Morris became a recognized feature of Chicago music scene. Having performed on electric violin with groups that perform blues, R&B and jazz, she became fascinated with country blues, and learned to play finger style country blues guitar. She formed her acoustic blues band, and collaborated for this project with artists including Fruteland Jackson, Jamiah Rogers, Tony Rogers, Dionte Skinner, Dario Lombardo, and Samuel Savoir Faire Williams. In 2016, Inna was invited by Fruteland Jackson to join the group of Chicago blues artists to headline at Chicago Blues Festival 2016. The band also included artists like Fruteland Jackson, Jemiah Rogers, Tony Rogers, Dionte Skinner.
Inna Morris performs swing jazz on violin in the style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli.
Inna's European roots are manifested in her efforts in preservation of her native music traditions. For a number of years she was invited as a guest speaker for the American Roots Music program at Northwestern University to speak about Russian poetry and songs.
Inna Morris is an advocate and participant of Blues at School program. She participated at Blues at School program for children in Chicago, bringing music education to Chicago public schools.
